ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Anyway...

I wrote and recorded these songs in 2014/15 as a way to chronicle my experiences in Casablanca,Morocco while gigging at a local bar and looking for a life. I met some beautiful people and had some good times. A period I'll always look back on fondly.

Anyway...

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Lennon said that and I can attest to the truth of that observation. Here we are,2019,and this record, which was intended to be a quick work, has sat idle for close to 5 years as I found myself working on other things and finding that life I'd been looking for. I still like these songs and the playing and the time they evoke for me. So...they are now released.

Anyway...

I want to thank the exemplary crew of musicians who lent their time and talents to this collection. Recorded in Montreal's Third Eye Studios, and mixed & engineered by my good friend Dan Legault. Dan also helped me whip these tunes into shape as Co-Producer, Drummer and he also played bass on "Broken Promise" and "Mudville". I called on Anthony Cooperwood's Piano & Chaz Butcher's Bass for B.W. because they are the guys you call to cut a track about The Dark Knight. Much thanks to Dick Grayson for the solo on that one. Tim Alleyne played Organ and Piano on tracks 1,3,5, and 10 and that pleases me to no end!
My trusted Associate Alec McElcheran graciously agreed to supply the bass on tracks 1,3,4,5,7,9,10,11
Dan and I handled the rest of the keyboard and bass noises. I played the guitars and sang. It was fun.
Oh! And thanks to my cover models, Abby and Margot!

Anyway...

These are Songs About Where We Used To Be.
Thanks for taking the time to listen.
Much love to you, my friends.

Alan
