ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
James Washington Gordon aka “JG" is an aspiring hip hop and urban artist born in Nottingham, UK. He began to teach himself to play the guitar at age 12 and continued to learn throughout secondary school. At age 19 he began to take music more seriously taking Urban and electronic music production at university.

He began trying to find a sound in grime but it didn’t quite suit him and chose to start writing more consciously. Influences throughout this transitional period we’re Akala, immortal technique, Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa.

He has always been skilled at wordplay and possesses a rich smoky voice complimented by an authentic English accent. After moving back home and eventually splitting with his university sweetheart in 2015 he began to concentrate on song writing and poetry and performed at local events around Nottingham and derby. In 2016 things began to accelerate and he performed more spoken word at various events and showcased his singles at bars and cafe's.

He then went on to perform an acoustic rendition of “Riverflow” on Notts T.V, made an appearance on Radio1xtra’s street studio. After moving to derby to be with his current partner, he welcomed his daughter into the world in 2017 and released a spoken word video project the following month called “Rise up” for FixersUK, highlighting issues of depression and anxiety.

For the next 2 years he would practice regularly with a reggae band in Nottingham, perform at community festivals and local gigs and travel every Wednesday to Nottingham to work on new music with producer and MC James Ellis, towards an eventual album release.

After meeting Jermaine “Avastaar” Maynard in 2018 he began to do vocal training and work on his song writing skills. He is planning on releasing a single soon and an eventual second EP to showcase the hard work that’s been put in over the past 2 years. Jaygee says “ With my sound and lyrics I’m trying to create my own lane in the UK. I'm really excited for people to hear my new sound”. With a developing vibrato and richness to his voice similar to the likes of Drake, Lemar and John legend, great things are expected to come from this up and coming musician.
