Album Notes
Preschoolers now have a punk rock record of their own.

Jam Toast’s “Silly grown-ups, punk is for kids” is three-chord fun for the whole family; no swearing, of course, just old school punk rock for school-age kids and their parents, including such rockers as “Roller-Skating Wiener Dogs,” “My Sandbox Rocks!” and “Toys on the Dancefloor.”

Jam Toast knows that just because you’re a kid—or have kids—doesn’t mean you want to listen to endless renditions of the Wheels on the Bus. (Hey, some families wish the wheels on the bus would just fall off, already.) Punk rock IS kids’ music, after all; it’s fun, fast and noisy, and it’s not afraid to colour outside the lines.

“Jam Toast brings everyone out of their shell to laugh, sing along and let loose,” says Doris Ebejer, a Toronto pre-school teacher who plays the CD daily for her classes. “Even the most timid child gets up and moves freely. Great Music! Great Fun!”

Sweetspot.ca says Jam Toast “takes all the three-chord fun of punk and gives it a childlike twist.” 24 Hours says Jam Toast—and punk rock for children—makes a lot of sense. And Kids Music Suite says Jam Toast’s first album is “one of those CD’s that will get the whole family rocking.” (Read the full articles in the press section at www.jamtoast.ca)

Jam Toast is Michael McKinnon, a dude who screamed in hardcore punk bands in the late 1980s and early 1990s (nope, no one you’ve heard of), and didn’t stop spinning his Clash and Ramones records when he started a family. Here, he’s proud to have his two boys, three and seven, rock the mic with him.
