Album Notes
JACKDAW4 launch their second album, BIPOLAR DIVERSIONS.

Two years after the critically acclaimed debut album Gramophone Logic, Jackdaw4 released their follow up, titled Bipolar Diversions, in April 2008. It\'s a beautifully constructed album, which combines vital energy with instantly memorable songs, with hints of influence ranging from Squeeze, Jellyfish, 10CC, The Beach Boys and XTC, amongst others.

The immediacy of the songs will have you grinning from ear to ear, and each play will reveal another subtle layer, another nuance. Bipolar Diversions is set to be one of the classic albums in any music collection.

Based in London, Jackdaw4 is the brainchild of Willie Dowling, the chief singer, songwriter and producer of Bipolar Diversions, who has drawn from a bank of musical influences to create some unique and extraordinary songs, laced with acute observations and character portraits.

Dowling is well known as a composer for both TV and film, writing music for such comedy luminaries as Steve Coogan (Dr Terrible’s House of Horror), Rob Bryden and Julia Davis (Human Remains) and Armstrong & Miller to name just a few.

On stage, as on record, Dowling is accompanied by, John Steel, Guy James, Andy Lewis and Andy Robertson, whose wealth of musical experience and ability ensures Jackdaw4 delivers astonishing live performances.

Jackdaw4 toured extensively across the UK following the release of their first album, Gramophone Logic. In November, 2007 the band played a sold out gig at the Soho Revue Bar in London. A full UK tour is planned for 2008.

The Atomic Chaser

Master-Class Powerpop
'Bipolar Diversions' the sophmore release from Jackdaw4 is simply delicious! Power pop at it's best. Great songwriting, performance and fantastic production. Everthing about this album is exceptional. A carnival of sounds that contains the magic we all felt on Christmas morning as children as we opened our presents. Put on your
headphones and be blown away my friends! The band's debut release, 'Gramophone Logic' is just as delicious. - The Atomic Chaser, THE DRP/All Access Magazine (Los Angeles, CA)

Classic-sounding powerpop. Great musicianship on display, with tight arrangements, complex harmonics and soaring melodies. Brings to mind Jellyfish and Wings, so if you have a liking for the genre, you'll be in heaven.

My only (small) complaint is a less 'hot' master would have offered more headroom for the dense arrangements to breathe, although the production itself is high-quality work.

I bought both CD's at the same time. I admit I am far more impressed with the second than the first. The first is good and this is great. Looking forward to the third. If you like Jellyfish you will like this.
