ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Make Good Choices, the first record from Upstate New York's The Instruments Band (or Instruments, as they as often known) is a sonic rainbow of sounds, hand claps and strums and singing and drums and noises unimaginable, recorded over the course of one year in cold apartments, warm farmhouses, cold farmhouses, a few recording studios and sometimes outside. Each song is different in style, texture, substance, message, feeling, and tone. We suggest listening to all the songs in a row (which should take you an hour, unless you're doing it wrong) and then going back and listening to your favorites repeatedly.

Beautiful..
Each and every song on Make Good Choices has the most mesmerizing melodies and lyrics. Each is completely original and well written. My love for the band grows every time I listen to this cd, which takes me into an entirely different mind-set. Thank you for writing such beautiful music and sharing it with the world.

Appalachia Upstate Strings
Make Good Choices has a nice Americana-Folk likeability with an audible briskness, much like the landscape it\'s derived from. The music is somewhere between West Virginia and Canada, where the Appalachian Hills barely brush the deep mysterious Finger Lakes of Upstate NY. Songs like Parade\'s first line: \"If we make it through the winter\", evokes feelings of a bittersweet bleakness, with hope - the depression of a Western New York winter bursting with one full day of sunshine. The Instruments Band\'s strings are crisp, warm and sentimental; comforting, and solemn. This is a must have debut album for any indie folk lover\'s collection.
