Everything Is Black & White

by I Am Demure

The highly anticipated debut EP is "radio friendly, but still heavy" rock songs that you’ll be singing in your sleep. Memorable hooks and melodies paired with heavy guitar and hard hitting drums keep this album playing from beginning to end.

Album Notes
I Am Demure's debut EP, Everything Is Black & White was produced and engineered by Evan Rodaniche of Powerman 5000 and Cage9.
Tracks include:
Even When - an uptempo and uplifting single with infectious chorus
Miss Perfect - the heaviest track with sweet double bass, sassy vocals, and a tinge of heavy metal vibe
Trigger - mid-tempo single with moody vibe and epic chorus
Satellite - pop rock track with electronic dance vibe and chorus you can’t forget
Steal Your Body - epic romance with a heavy groove
Army - uptempo rock anthem with a chorus that’s waiting for fists to pump in the air

Constantly defying their own name with powerful, edgy rock instrumentals mixed with severely catchy, dare one say even pop-like hooks and melodies, I Am Demure’s sound is anything but demure. The LA-based band brings together a notable set of players whose combined efforts bring passion, energy, and life to their sound. With the unique vocal style of Denise Lorraine, meshed with the crunch of Grammy nominated guitarist, Brandon ‘Bizzy’ Hollemon, and the hard hits of internationally touring drummer Rattan, this band contradicts what the era of female fronted rock sound alikes has come to be.

All of the good, none of the bad
I am Demure has produced a really high quality product. Everything sounds huge! The guitar and bass tones on "Trigger" being a particular favorite. They are big, bold, crunch, and warm. They have a "we spent tons of money" sound, and yet avoid sounding abbrasive, dissonant, and over-produced like anything from the Foo Fighters last couple of releases. I appreciated the attention to detail in the vocal production. The use of echo, delay, and slight doubling in sparing nuanced moments really adds to the visceral impact of the album. Tiny touches like the stomp/clap breakdown in "Even When" and drum and bass break in "Satellite" really show the attention to detail that comes with doing what you love. I Am Demure sounds like they are having fun despite the fact that they might be a bit angry. For me, its the best of metal (the big guitars, heavy riffs, thunder drums) mixed with the soaring pop melodies of something like Garbage, Velocity Girl, or No Doubt.
