Album Notes
Countless hours have been spent on arrangements, adjustments & rearrangements of most compositions on this CD. The objective has been to create a recording that demonstrates traditional Ashkenazi Hazzanut, dressed up with Flamenco, Classical & Popular styles of guitar & other flavors of Jewish music. Each style of the guitar & addition of other instruments is to specifically highlight the same flavor of the music.

Hazzan Howard (Hamid) Dardashti is in his 13th year of serving Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill, NJ. He was born in to three generations of professional singers & began teaching guitar at the age of seventeen. He is a graduate of the Cantors Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary & has composed/arranged a complete Friday night service for Hazzan & guitar, youth choir music & much more. He has performed around the world on stage & on the air singing in 14 languages, playing guitar, harmonica & hand drums.

With a powerful voice full of soul, and haunting Sefardi guitar, Cantor Dardashti makes classical cantorial singing accessible to those of us who love folk music, spicing it with the exotic. This is a must-have for those who dream of authentic Jewish hazzanut in the old tradition, only spiked with the perfume of the Orient!
