Album Notes
In Zimbabwe we have a pop style of music called 'Sungura'. It's energetic, fast guitar work and dancing plus clever, social comentry lyrisism.

Then we also have an important, sacred instrument and style of music called Mbira. Its history has a strong relationship to the histories of the country Zimbabwe and the spirituality of its people.

Hope Masike is one of the few women to play Mbira before it became fashionable. She performs the old classical Mbira tunes but also ushers it into the new music scene. She has spent the last three years experimenting with Mbira-fusion.

On Wepepedu, she fuses Mbira and Sungura!!
