ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dave Gunning Christmas

Dave’s holiday release, fittingly titled, Dave Gunning Christmas is a sincere and heartfelt tribute to the musical standards of Christmas past and present. It features original and traditional holiday favorites and includes the popular song, “Daddy’s Beer,” (co-written with Jamie Robinson), which has become a holiday hit with fans and country radio programmers alike.

The “Dave Gunning Christmas” experience will wrap listeners in a rich musical blanket of holiday standards, textured with smooth, sultry vocals and innovative arrangements. Featured songs include, Christmas Blanket, Silver Bells, Do You Feel What I Feel, Daddy’s Beer, Frosty The Snowman, Christmas Bells, Mary’s Boy Child, It Came Upon The Midnight Clear, O Holy Night, What Child Is This, Silent Night (with good friend and country recording artist, George Canyon).

Gunning, who just returned home from performing for the troops in Afghanistan on Remembrance Day, has been awarded six East Coast Music Awards since 2003 and took home two 2011 ECMA Awards, including Roots Traditional Recording of the Year and Producer of the Year, for his recording, a tribute to John Allan Cameron. He was also recently nominated for four 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

He was the winner of the Indie International Song Contest for his song, “Hard Workin’ Hands”, co-written with Ron Hynes, and was a finalist in the Great American Song Contest, the USA Songwriting Competition, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Contest. All of the hardware and certificates aside, it is the personal connection that Gunning’s music engenders that is the greatest testament to his craft.

A seasoned performer and entertainer, Gunning has toured extensively both solo and with his band, performing to sold-out venues, festivals, house concerts and theatres throughout Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Denmark. Engaging and charismatic, his magnetic gift of captivating audiences by creating a bond through down-to-earth details, homespun humour and seasoned musicianship will be in full display this festive season.
