Album Notes

Guilford began years ago as an outlet for me (Greg Olson) to convey my songs to the world (or whoever might listen). Today…nothing has changed. With various lineup changes, two cds, a couple digital releases & this vinyl 7" over the years it is still my vehicle for artistic public expression.

With a long break in between releases I’m happy to release this simple two song 7”.

Side A: “Wolves”
An original with fairly basic instrumentation was written after I read the Farley Mowat book, “Never Cry Wolf”. I enjoyed it thoroughly & would encourage anyone interested in wolves or wildlife in general to pick it up. The instrumentation includes: tenor electric guitar, drum set, vocals & strings.

Side B: “Pink Turns To Blue”
A sparse cover of the Husker Du classic, “Pink Turns To Blue”. I have been enamored of the band and Zen Arcade in particular for years. I felt I did a decent cover and wanted to share it with people. You can hear my friend Roger’s beagle, Mr Henry, jingle his tags a couple times during the recording. He did good so we kept it. The instrumental includes: acoustic six string guitar, vocals & Mr Henry.

The physical single itself pays homage to that great band/album & also its sister album (Minutemen’s Double Nickels On The Dime) in a couple obvious & not so obvious ways.

Fans of Low, Idaho, Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters), David Bazan et al may enjoy what I create.

I hope you’ll take the time to listen to it, play it and enjoy it.
