ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Growing up in Hollywood, GT had the dream of being a performer as long as he can remember. He didn't get serious about his dream until age 15 when he wrote his first song. After writing his first song, he knew for sure music was what he wanted to do.

In 1998, GT released his first EP. Ultimate was a collection of alternative songs and got modest airplay on alternative stations across the country. In 1999, GT started experimenting with hip-hop. "I don't know how rap found me", said GT, "but it got under my skin." When asked about criticism for switching styles, this versatile artist replied: "I play what I like. I don't try to conform to a genre. The music speaks for itself."

His hit single, "It's Halloween" was recorded in September of 2000 and was released as a single soon after in time for Halloween. In July of 2001, he released a single with 4 different versions. "It's Halloween" has grabbed the attention of major stations across the US and has landed GT interviews with KFMA's John and Frank morning show.

GT always expected this song to do well. "I just wanted to get the attention of some college stations. That was the main purpose of creating the song," he says. GT met "It's Halloween" producer Ben Davis at an LA club after Davis finished a set with his band Sugar Cult. GT originally approached Davis about laying down some tracks for the Halloween song, but soon after Davis offered to produce the song and the two recorded in Davis' home studio.

Ever since September of 2000, when "It's Halloween" was first released, GT has succeed in getting airplay at major commercial stations such as KROQ and KFMA. Even with commercial airplay, GT found it difficult to get the attention of the major record labels. The single was distributed to local record stores and radio stations by SLM Records, a small independent hip-hop label. Getting frustrated with the major labels, he decided to take matters into his own hands and established NorthStarSounds, his own label. "I love the freedom of having my own label," says GT. "I can record the way I want and I have control over distribution and promotions."

Starting out on his own has been easier for him than most in his situation because he has interned at Interscope, Radio Active Records, Solid Disc and Flanagan Promotions. His experience with these companies has taught him how the recording business works. From marketing to publicity to promotions, GT has a clear view of where he wants to be.

GT is working with a new producer, Bruce Wilson, and is almost done with his album which is due out before Halloween 2002. Wilson is also co-writing the songs with GT. His remix version of It's Halloween is due out on vinyl soon. GT has started touring California hoping to grow his local fan base.
