Album Notes

Groove Weaver is the culmination of a 10 year musical, artistic, metaphysical, and spiritual journey. From the first pawn shop guitar, the party band, and the bar band; To the search for enlightenment in Humboldt County, CA; To the return to Alaska and the exploration of computer and digital production. Long Way Around is exactly that: a memory of the journey and an embrace of that long, crazy path.

Read the words while you listen to the songs: My music, my words, your voice.

1). long way around

A red hawk takes off and flies over rolling alpine cattle fields. It is early on a bright and brisk morning. Dew clings to pasture grass and sparkles as it drips off of the mountain trees. The sun has peaked over the mountain tops, laying a blanket of gold on the land. A fog slowly rises from the river that meanders through the valleys, as the day slowly warms. The hawk catches updrafts, glides gracefully, then dives with utter grace and exhilaration.

2). on my way up

Elite warriors in full parade dress, after the completion of years of service and narrowly surviving a never ending series of near impossible missions. Scarred and battered, weary, worn, and jaded, yet still strong. So fully engaged in a reality that few people will ever even glimpse, that they almost seem distant. Yet they are so resolute in their convictions and honor. Moving to a different rhythm. Precise. Efficient. Unconventional. Effective.

3). pure energy

Deep, powerful, full, and on a mission. The backbone, the root, the base, the fundamental core of reality. Full of life, love, and joy. Free of inhibition. Filled with fearless expression. Flowing unhindered.

4). the movement

A band of native nomads efficiently navigating through an ancient, mysterious rainforest, in a time long forgotten. Danger looms with each movement, but they are skilled and proficient, aware and alert, in an extremely elevated state of consciousness; free of thought. Moving on instinct and faith.

5). the unknown

A secret code that opens a portal to a different dimension.
A dark, smoky underground beatnik lounge.
The improvisation slowly moving:
Smooth, steady, controlled, and purposeful.
Pulling back the veil of darkness,
Inching into the unknown.
Emerging into eternal groove
And limitless funk.

6). thought

A seed awakened to life.

A sprout breaking through the surface of the soil into the sunlight. Cautiously probing, assessing the situation. Consciously remembering what it instinctually knows. Building…growing…Beginning to fulfill it’s purpose in life…Learning…Refining…gaining strength…learning…refining…gaining strength…until Finally approaching mastery.

A person realizing that he is alive.

The thought gaining power…growing….gaining more power…approaching inevitability…Reaffirming Purpose. Knowing what it is that he does, and knowing that he must do it…then…Doing it well.

7). out the door

Alive, Strong and Free.
