Album Notes
Wee Folk Stomp was written especially for families and children of Pagan and Alternative Spirituality. Our kids need their own quality music! There are wonderful original songs here that tell stories and spark the imagination. Several songs are based on traditional children's tunes like "The Farmer In The Dell" and "The Hokey Pokey" but with lyrics that magically transform the songs into a special kind of celebration.

These songs all teach a little bit about the basics of some of our paths. There are songs about ritual and songs about the circle of solstices and equinoxes. Other songs introduce deities and folks from story and myth. I've also tried to introduce some elementary music theory concepts, like unison and harmony, counter melody and round singing. It all makes for some happy singing when we all come together!

There are two lovely lullabies on this album. The first is a beautiful song from Indonesia called "Suliram." I first heard this when I was very small from a record my parents had. The woman singing it was named Miriam Makeba from South Africa. I learned it phonetically and sang it to my children and my grandchildren when they were babies. When I recorded it for this album, I was able to find the correct Indonesian words and I was surprised how close my phonetic memory was to the real lyric!

The second lullaby re-imagines "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" much as I sang it to my own children, changing the words so that they were my stars and my moon. When I teach or give workshops about music, I always encourage folks to play with their own lyrics because music can bring out some surprising things that way!

An added bonus for this album is a splendid coloring and activity book that has all the lyrics and beautiful art nouveau style graphics to color! You can buy it from Amazon or from my website!
