Gloria Jean

by Gary Forsythe

This is the very first master recording of Gloria Jean which resurfaced after Gloria Jean passed away, her son thought I might like to have it. Since it was never released I decided it would be a cool thing to put out original.

Album Notes
Gloria Jean

Gloria Jean was my 5th wife and a wonderful woman and wife. We had a hers and mine marriage but were not blessed with any of our own. She had 2 sons from a previous marriage and I had 2 sons and 2 daughters from previous marriages. Out of the blue about a year after Jean and I were sealed for all time and eternity according to our LDS faith, my first wife called me and said she could no longer control my 2 sons saying that they were habitually in trouble. Jean had no problem agreeing to me bringing my two sons into our family. It was a chore however, as soon as my sons joined us they all of a sudden became over achievers and surged forward with straightening out their lives. We dealt with the competition between the boys by starting businesses that the kids could work in and stay occupied. We prospered in a very small town in Kansas.

God placed many opportunities in our lives and because of Jean's unconditional support I was able to begin pursuing writing music. A lot to ask of a new wife to support a 38 year old husband starting a musical career, and Jean did every step of the way. My first song was to God for all blessings received and the next two were to Jean.

More doors were opened to me to open a business that with Jean's support, our son's working in the business, and humongous blessings from God, we built a multi million dollar business. But success can be a two edged sword, and unfortunately Jean chose to split and we divorced.

We got Jean's oldest son in the Army before he went completely astray, that turned him around and he had a good life after serving in the gulf war. He unexpectedly passed away at 43 with a pulmonary embolism 3 years ago. Jean died a year after he died.

A few months ago Jean's youngest son brought me a box of “things” that he thought I would like to have. As I went through the box of wonderful memories I found the first master studio recorded version of “Gloria Jean,” marked “Jean's Copy” I've made several recordings of “Gloria Jean” and I remember in one session one of the musicians said, “I'd like to meet the woman who inspired these rhythms.” Because of Jean's support I was able to study with Paul Parker noted concert Pianist and teacher and Paul and Gary introduced “Gloria Jean” to the world in a very fine way.

Gloria Jean Gloria Jean you have opened the door
To eternal happiness yes you have yes you have yes you have
Words have I not to clearly explain
How I feel about you Gloria Jean
You are the epitome of a woman to me

Come let me gaze into your pretty green eyes and
Tell of the love in my soul for you Gloria Jean

Forever let me hear your name
Today tomorrow throughout all eternity
