Album Notes
I broke many of the conventions of album-making here. Rather than try to create a "Micro-niche" or genre that would wobble within certain stylistic parameters, I decided to cover much of the techniques available to me and take a tour all over the map. Some years ago I saw a comment to the effect "I love Goa, but hate gabber", which seemed the height of overwrought preciousness. A composer's "voice", such as it is, will show through whatever stylistic or technical means is used.

Track 1: ROYAL FLUSH is in a heavy rock prelude, alternating heavy guitar and drums with symphonic string sounds.

Track 2: FICTIONAL PEOPLE combines big electronic drums with silly processed vocal samples.

Track 3: SPIRITS, PHASING is an exploration of a chord sequence in different registers and evolutions.

Track 4: DOWSING FOR AMERICA is a convoluted sort of fanfare, starting with a quiet guitar riff and arriving at a soaring conclusion.

Track 5: EVIL, THINKING DUST combines a classical-style thematic motive with a pulsing drum response. Transposition is one of the main modes of development, as well as the use of a recorded "rubber duckie" sound at a crucial structural moment.

Track 6: BURNING TREE, FALLING FROM THE SKY is an epic developing work contrasting rhythmic moments with traditional orchestral scoring.

Track 7: GROUNDLINGS IN PARADISE is a sort of ballad in a nostalgic mood.

Track 8: WORLD LINE ZERO combines a dense groove with an textures extruded from a cactus-firmus continuo.

Track 9: SIC TRANSIT MUNDI is an ambient orchestra and piano tableau.

Track 10: THE CARPETBAGGERS' REBELLION is a beat made of classical strings with a heavy rock four-on-the-floor beat. Enharmonic shifts appear in the second theme that ultimately goes to a final fade-out.

"Great music. I love your style, full of magic energy." — Lucille Femine, Artist

"Wow, Dan Robinson's BURNING TREE evokes a range of emotions from a savage beat to a gentle caress, depending on which part you select. What a talent. Get a copy and hold on to your hat! You are in for a ride from a bucking horse to a lazy drift down a quiet stream. Get it and enjoy." — LD Sledge, Artist

“In a world where pop rules the airwaves , Dan is a breath of fresh air ....his newest effort is very clever as expected , utilizing some intricate rhythms and very lush keyboard layers . It’s relaxing and intriguing at the same time, an utmost sonic journey …” —Chandler Mogel, International Recording Artist and touring Rock Singer

“Engaging music that takes you away. High quality work that works your imagination. Good stuff!” — Jim Mets

BURNING TREE by ETHERGUN a.k.a. Dan Robinson. Set your antennas to ultra-violet because this work plays like a soundtrack received from the beyond. Is it electro? Is it classical? Does it belong in the past? Present? Future? I'm not really sure. But one thing is for sure, Burning Tree refuses to sit still in a box and is all the better for it. Like a soundtrack received from an alternate universe it is at times dramatic, sometimes serene, and at other times simply anomalous. A real gem. I definitely recommend."
— Anthony Wells, UK Recording Artist

It is said that the Burning Tree (which never goes out) is the passion of all the souls that yet remained uncorrupted before the fall of the empire, and wait to be released to fight once again.

I found Daniel's Burning Tree work to provoke my imagination even more than his previous works! Its transitional cohesiveness and titles take you through what seems to hint at a future prophesy. I kept wanting to hear more. — Steve Sidare

Strap in, because EtherGun continues to evolve his composing and instrumental mastery into a new album which will take you on a ride through the universe, and more importantly, your own imagination. Whether you have broad eclectic musical taste, or adhere to specific genres, "BURNING TREE", will push every emotional and spiritual button, and keep you guessing as to the journey you'll be on through the whole album, blending different styles and genres effortlessly. — Hugo Salazar, Jr., Actor,

Oooo this is nice. Yeah. Good background music for writing away on an adventure story. — George Wier

Very interesting music. Listening to this album is like going on a journey. Each piece has its own feeling, changes in unexpected ways, and provokes images in the mind's eye. I really enjoyed listening to this album! —Tara Lambert Kalajian, Healthcare Technology Developer

The album, 'Burning Tree' by EtherGun (Dan Robinson) has blown me away. Listening to it was like reading a book of riveting short stories; but through my ears. Each track tells a story...A truly inspired album, Dan. Hats off to you!--Shani Waldbaum, Artist, Johannesburg

EtherGun’s BURNING TREE puts together the modernity of the contemporary music language with the massive harmonies of the great composers of the Romantic period. From guitar solos to orchestral sounds, Musique concrète, Japanese Taiko Drums and trance music, EtherGun explores a great variety of sounds and harmonies. Track 8: WORLD LINE ZERO brings a feeling of transfiguration of nature’s elements. Its timbres and melodies with short moments of oriental remembrance provide the listener with a feeling of fullness of soul. Ramon Moraes, Flutist
