Album Notes
Currently a practicing attorney, Erika has worked (among other things) as a musician, ski instructor, field geologist, and teacher. Her music reflects more than two decades of experience living, loving, learning, and generally trying to figure out how to get it done – with any luck, on time and under budget.

Erika fell in love with music at the age of 5 when she was introduced to the piano in a neighbor’s garage. As a teenager growing up at Lake Tahoe, Erika was often banished from practicing in the house due to the variety of loud instruments she brought home to experiment with. While playing to the trees, her mind and fingers would wander, beginning a lifelong fascination with improvisational exploration and creation. Never a person to follow the obvious path, Erika spent the next decade focusing on academics and classical music, earning two undergraduate degrees from MIT and a masters degree from the Eastman School of Music.

Erika has made several attempts to become a responsible adult, which included running a real estate development venture, working as a derivatives attorney, and opening her own law firm focused on the environment and sustainability. In 2010 Erika moved onto a boat, picked up a guitar, and started writing music in earnest. Her songs reflect her experiences as a musician and a human, often pulling on themes from nature, relationships, politics and her experience raising two children in the new millennium. Erika’s music is reminiscent of earlier eras, tuneful and evocative of her eclectic influences: early music, art song, jazz, Americana, musical theater, and 60s folk.
