Album Notes
Born and raised in Mountain View, Arkansas, Emily Phillips kicked off her fiddling career in 2005 at age 9 with the Music Roots program which teaches young people in the local school system traditional music on acoustic instruments. In 2006, Emily began attending fiddle and string band workshops and developed a love of old-time music. Soon, she added claw-hammer banjo and guitar lessons and eventually began teaching fiddle and banjo herself in 2012. Emily is now a member of The Lazy Goat String Band (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thelazygoatstringband), she performs and dances at the Ozark Folk Center, for the Ozark Traditions Square Dance group, and on the famous courthouse square in Mountain View. When she’s not playing music, Emily loves to play tennis, hunt and fish, and raises Alpine dairy goats.

A Fantastic CD!!!
Emily Phillips astounds the ears with a resonant beauty that leaves one wanting more! Her “Ookpik Waltz”, also known as “Canadian Waltz”, is enough to bring tears to the eyes of any music lover. “Flying Cloud” demonstrates her ability to fly on strings as she plays beautifully clear notes. The CD has many tunes some in the Old Time world have heard, and many unique with alternate versions such as “Fire on the Mountain” played with a cross tuned fiddle. Any fiddler whether Bluegrass, Texas Swing, or Old-time would thoroughly enjoy this CD that comes with tuning information in the 4 page cover! Strongly Recommended!
