"Toucan You Can" is sure to please both children and adults. In a recent review of the album, Bob Makin, staff writer for "The Courier News",Gannett,NJ wrote, "Donna Lisa doesn't write the typical brain draining sap that often passes for children's music. She writes sophisticated melodies, catchy beats and edu-taining lyrics that won't go over kids heads." In an article in "The Westfield Leader", Westfield,NJ, Kerrianne Spellman Court called, "Toucan You Can" "...a marvelous new album for children. Donna's work simply shines! I've been singing the title song all day."

The playful quality of Donna's songwriting invites children to share an adventure with her. Her melodies are simple, but interesting. Her style is predominantly folk with elements of calypso, southwestern, blues, country and pop. These tunes engage children and allow them to easily sing along. Donna's lyrics paint memorable pictures of animals, places, imaginary characters and activities that intrigue children.

Parents enjoy the humor and imagery of the songs and, they too, find themselves singing along. Many are pleasantly surprised that Donna's lyrics can be informative and stimulate questions and learning. The album also features pretty harmonies, delightful children's voices, real bird and animal sounds and skillful guitar, piano and harmonica solos.

Donna has had considerable experience with writing and performing for children. She published stories and songs with Chappell Music, CAM USA, and Taylor Associates. She wrote a musical fantasy for children, titled "Marvin and the Beasts", which was produced in Davis, California. Donna has performed in clubs and coffee houses throughout the New York area. She has also performed in schools, in shows designed for children and worked for a toy manufacturer to promote a product. Currently several of Donna's songs are under contract with music licensing/publishing companies Supreme Lyric Execs, and Noteborn Music.

Donna is the A&R Coordinator, and a contributing songwriter to, "Playful Journeys to Grow On," a soon-to-be released compilation, children's album. This CD will benefit the United Way and provide music scholarships for disadvantaged children. It features some well known chidren's singer/songwriters such as Laurie Berkner and Raffi.

Donna is also an award-winning screenwriter. Her screenplays for families and children, "Kheng Kheng Crocodile," and "Toucans of the Amazon," were honored in the 2007 Moondance International Film Festival, the 2007 Worldfest Houston Film Festival, the 2007 Writers Place Screenwriting Contest, the 2007 American Screenwriters Association Screenwriting Contest, and many others.

Donna majored in "Creative Expression Through Writing and Art with a Focus on Children" at the University of California. She took specialized courses in songwriting and storywriting for children at The Songwriters Workshop, The Songwriters Guild, The Writer's Voice, The Institute for Children's Literature, The New School and New York University.

Big Fans
This CD was recommended to us when we planned a road trip up north. We needed something to entertain our seven month old. This was the perfect music for our son's ears. He hummed along and we played it over and over (he would cry if we turned it off or his father would sing along). Such catchy tunes. As my son grew older, he would sing and sing along with Donna Lisa. A great CD to introduce children to family-friendly music.

This lively and upbeat collaboration will have you singing all day.
This vibrant collection of songs will have anyone singing along even after the song has ended. I love it and recommend it to kids of all ages.

Our Entire Family Loves This CD
We all love this CD!
We really enjoy the variety of lyrics and song themes. My three year old sings and my one year old dances whenever I turn on the CD. The songs really stay with you throughout the day. I find myself often humming the tunes even when not listening to the CD. They are catchy songs.
My five year old loves giving this CD as a gift to her friends for their birthdays.

I just loved the cd
My favorite song is Kheng Kheng Crocodile. It was fun to listen to the whole CD. My mom and I really liked it.

all the music was fun to listen to. My first comment was about another cd by Donna that I listened to. I liked all the songs on this one.

Great CD, very imaginative--my son loves it!
I just love this CD--it's so much more creative than other stuff out there. My son listens to "Hey Baby Llama" over and over again, but there's not a bad song in the bunch. You can't go wrong with this CD!!!
