Album Notes
This is Tony Muscarelli's debut CD entitled Direct Current. After 10 years as an electronic music dj at New London's Connecticut College radio station WCNI, an intimate knowledge of the power of the more radical side of ambient and dance was learned. The name of that show was Continuous Fractal Ambience. And it is this side of electronica that is orchestrated into new forms on Direct Current.

This disc winds its way through many influences starting with the footstomping, out-on-the-front-portch sample that kicks off Cloud Peak. On Change Shape, maintaining a cold, steady axis, we are transformed in the end within a ripple of ambience. Red Rock Eve's organic and tribal groove takes us out where we can witness the Glowing Grass that grows up the side of the Vertical Prairie at autumn sunsets. Inner Energy is a wandering journey through industrial then tribal rhythms, in view of a powerful, yet controlled distortion screech. The conundrum unravels into a Hidden Valley where youthful piano and guitar patterns bring order to the previous chaos of energy.

Where music should be NOW, caviar for ears with good taste.
It takes you up and doesn't let you go, an exciting voyage through many rich soundscapes, performed with amazing professional dexterity. I find many influences; Bill Nelson, Björk, Eno, conjured up in an exquisite, mysterious balance that will show you that imagination is still alive and well. You'll find something new every time you listen to it. Beautiful.
