Album Notes
Die Robot started on the summer of 2012, when former members of Pop Dolls and long time songwriters buddies, Vince Christian (vocals, guitar) and Barbie Saint (bass, vocals) moved to Portland where they met Mallory Hamilton at a movie/video games store. Mallory plays the band's keyboards, synth, sampler and she also plays tenor sax in some songs. One night watching the first Alien's movie, at the part where Ellen Ripley is fighting the human looking robot that wouldn't die, Barbie Saint yells at the screen Die Robot! and they decided right there, that'd be their band name. Their first official show was October 17, 2012. Mallory was not 21 yet so they play numerous shows at the Red Room, a venue that allowed Mallory to hangout, without drinking, after the shows. A year later and after playing as a trio in places like the Star Theater, Mount Tabor Theater, East End, The Lovecraft Bar, etc. Angela Johnson, Barbie's best friend in the world, joins Die Robot in drums. Charles Beasley, joins the band in guitars a few month after Angela. In the summer of 2014 they recorded their first EP self title, Die Robot. Charles leaves the band due to medical issues but he still remains a really close friend and a recording collaborator. They released their EP at a packed Star Theater for Hive on September 07. 2014.

Die Robot makes music that is described as electro-rock, dark wave, electroclash and future wave. Recently they've added a new band member, Josh Ketterer on guitar. His style is derived from dark wave and metal music. He is a perfect addition to the Die Robot sound.
Their debut album is now available on USB flash drives and CDs, and is available digitally online everywhere. The first single from their debut album "The Underground" was included in The Lovecraft Bar Compilation Record Vol. II. They have played numerous shows in the pacific northwest with incredible turn outs. DR have open for artists/bands like Vince Clark (Depeche Mode, Erasure) and David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) Enuff 'Z Nuff, among others. They will be opening for Orgy, April 30, 2015 @ Bossanova Ballroom!

It's Alive!
Most of the time, I find it easy to pick out a favorite tune on a record but I can't bring myself to that with EP. There is a reason for that. Their songs are so different from each other which is utterly refreshing. There is nothing more mundane than an over produced album that fits a formula. No formulas here other than something a mad scientist might produce. There is nothing sexier than a band that plays for themselves and their fans, not for "the man" or a "machine".
They remind me of everything good and decent about the 80's underground music scene but with their own modern twist. "Devour" makes me want to return to that gritty scene of my youth and sway in front of the stage and I admit It...I dance my ass off when I hear "Effigy" and "Unholy One". The kids (and kid like adults reliving their youth) of Portland are damn lucky to have this band to adore. May they keep writing and playing to the masses forever!
