Album Notes
Deep Ocean Creature(D.O.C.) emerges as a new alter ego for D. Mic Miller (Arkitecture, Beats Noir!, Katalyst). "23:11" is the debut album from D.O.C. and features Kyle Jones as co-producer.

This collection of songs was written and recorded at Brotherhood Studios in Denver, CO where Miller and Jones played/programmed the majority of sounds themselves. "We used Kyle's Eurorack Modular Synth for the foundation of most of the songs," says Miller. "After we had the basic idea we added drums, bass, and other live instruments over the analog synth tracks." He continues, "sometimes the song would call out for a very organic sound like a bowed upright bass or vibraphone and other times we added more layers from the modular or other synthesizers from our combined collections." With these combinations and the addition of some stellar horns on almost half the album, Deep Ocean Creature sounds expressive and impressive right out of the gate.

On this debut album the new duo displays mastery in sound design and conceptual arrangements. Combined the two musicians/engineers have well over 50 years of experience and their dedication shows. With both partners coming from similar but unique musical backgrounds, they both had a wellspring of inspiration and knowledge to draw from. "23:11" is a very cohesive album while being eclectic at the same time.

Each song exists as a micro-cosmic bubble that is integral in the larger ecosystem. These songs encapsulate the listener in warm, rich tones and punchy rhythms. Subtle but pleasing layers allow the feeling of staying forever. Just as tranquility sets in,colorful sonic waves wash over the underwater soundscape.

D.O.C. is already back to work on a follow-up album and will be playing live wherever conditions are right.

Please check out the album and stay tuned for more.
