ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Day of the Dead Horse is a 2 CD Anthology containing Horsecore: An Unrelated Story That's Time Consuming, Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers, Feed Me, all the extras from the Relapse Era and more.

Dead Horse is the best crossover metal band to ever come from Houston, and maybe even Texas. Dead Horse combines thrash, death metal and hard-grindcore, and mixed with a great sense of humor. With tracks like “Scottish Hell” and “Adult Book Store”, these Texans has made lasting impressions that will continue for years to come.

Horsecore: An Unrelated Story that's Time Consuming is hailed as the quintessential recording from Houston's Dead Horse. Released in 1989 on their own Death Ride Records this 16 song debut album was Re-released by Relapse Records in 1999 with 6 extra demo songs. Horsecore is a Texas tradition with great hardcore & cross-over thrash music. Horsecore embodies the principles of speed, groove and power blasts that has rode on in the newer music of the Loaded Gun EP (2014)

Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers is Dead Horse's 1991 major Label release via Big Chief / Metal Blade / Warner Brothers Records. Peaceful Death is by all accounts the largest release from deadhorse selling well over 35K units. Re-released in 1999 by Relapse Records, Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers originally contained 13 songs with 4 more added in here and on the 1999 Relapse Edition.

The rare Feed Me EP was the final recording from Dead Horse featuring the original lead vocalist Mike Haaga. This was a further perfection of their tech-thrash weirdness filtered through dopehead Texas indie-rock. Weirder and catchier than anything else you'll find in the 'thrash' genre, except for maybe Voivod. Dead Horse take just as many cues from Butthole Surfers as they do from Slayer and Roy Orbison, Hah! 'Chiggers' is the best way to end any album and is a sample of the obscure humor and Texas heritage birthed by Horsecore into this Dead Horse.
