Album Notes

From being introduced to rap at a young age of three years old, and becoming the opening act for big Ticket Master artists like; B2K and Jadakiss from the L.O.X.. The 18 year old, North Carolina native is demanding to get his feet wet in the music industry and slide down the path of success.

D.Cap who's real name is Du'Quan Jones was born in Southern Pines, North Carolina, but raised in Winston-Salem. His father was very close friends with Jam Master Jam (RunDMC's DJ), and whenever they would come in town for a gig, he brought d.Cap alone for the experience. Never in a million years did he think his son would want to be a rapper. D.Cap quoted "I remember when he first found out I could rap, let alone write, he was so happy. All that week he was like yo we need to get you into the studio, so I can have something to let Run and them listen to."

However, that never happened and d.Cap didn't really pursue rap as potential career, because of the lack of studios to go to. But, while working at the Library, d.Cap explains the strangest thing happened. "A guy who worked with me over heard me battling another emcee, Needless to say I killed him. He was so impressed by what I was saying and by the fact I could actually rap, that he basically put me down with a partner of his that owned a studio for the FREE."

That following summer, d.Cap basically stayed all day, everyday in the studio recording. But, the further they got into the album, the more his connection with Carlos (producer/owner of the studio) got worst. To make a long story short, d.Cap never got the master copies to any of his music, because he wouldn't sign a contract stating that he was now Carlos's artist. Sadly, that pushed d.Cap back where he started.

March 10, 1999, d.Cap alone with his mother and sister moved to Jacksonville, Florida to start life over after a nasty divorce. Although it didn't seemed like it, moving was a good move for d.Cap musically. However, d.Cap had to now become a universal artist that not only did one thing, one way, but everything, in every way. Making a hard transition from Northern rap to Southern rap and then combining both, D.Cap was now an artist that couldn't be denied. Not only writing his own material, but producing and organizing it as well. Quickly after making those adjustments needed, D.Cap entered into a talent show and tied for first place against Jacksonville's hottest rap act. Which created a little buzz for him around town.

Since then, d.Caps has graduated from High School (2002) and successfully recorded and released his first CD titled; What cha know About . . .
