Album Notes
Raw, intelligent, and unlike anything you’ve ever heard before - such is the musical performance of Dan Mills. Mills started writing and performing in his hometown of Cranston, Rhode Island at the age of sixteen. Performing as an acoustic act, he found a way to connect with audiences on a personal level through his extraordinary stage presence and visual, almost storybook lyrics. Evident in the songs are a wide range of different influences: from Frank Sinatra to Jay-Z, from Paul Simon to Martin Sexton. Mills found a way to take the solo acoustic act to a level that anyone and everyone can enjoy, creating a cult following in his new hometown of Ithaca, New York.

Now at the age of twenty-one, the release of Dan Mills’s debut album "Different Colored Walls" has broken new ground. The album provides a collection of songs that allows listeners to see the many sides of this versatile, capable musician. Fresh tasteful arrangements include bass guitar, drums, keys, and female vocalists to help form a depth and richness to Mills’s music. From start to finish, the album plays much like a live performance, leaving listeners excited to have caught a glimpse of this charismatic, young man’s personality.

You might find "Different Colored Walls" getting stuck in the CD player of your car. With upbeat, pop numbers like "Eight" and "Selling the Farm" alongside personal, thought provoking poetry such as "Odysseus", "Just as Scared", and "My Friend", you’ll find yourself loving the songs as much as the people that Mills creates through words.

Dan Mills writes music that is approachable by almost anyone. His lyrics are as timeless as they are moving. As you listen to the album, you might see yourself in his songs. Dan Mills and "Different Colored Walls" create a world in which you just might feel at home.

Same awesome sound as before, but better.
I have been a huge fan of Dan's music since I was a camper and he was my counselor at Camp Fuller. I looked forward to hearing his songs at campfires, and was very excited when I purchased his first album, so I could listen to him when I wasn't sitting around a fire with the rest of camp. Its been many years since then, and I was even more stoked to find out that he was working on a new album. I wasn't disappointed. "Different Colored Walls" has the same good-old sound of Dan Mills campfire music, but it is vamped up with more instruments and soulful female backup vocals on some songs. I love it. The lyrics and arrangements are incredible, as always.

Rad tunes!
Awesome! I love listening to this cd and almost always have his songs stuck in my head. I especially like Smell the Smoke, Got Nothin', and Susanne. The girls towards the end of the album sound great.

Buy the Album for the WHOLE experience!
The two minute samples of each song do the album no justice. It is not until you hear the song in it's entirety that you can really get the full beauty and oddity of Dan Mills' amazingly heart- felt music. He captures stories brilliantly and has a down to earth empathy for anything and anyone in his lyrics. Dan Mills is amazingly talented and witty. Track 10, "Susanne" is so perfect you will get the chills just listening to it.

Two thumbs up. Great sound easy to get hooked
This kid has AWESOME Talent. His sound is origional with hints of Dave Matthews and Al Green. Dan Mills is bound for stardom. I recommend buying this C.D. I was turned on to his music by a fishing friend of mine who was playing his stuff out on the water and I had to buy it.

If you can listen to one of these songs and not sing along to it, not have it stuck in your haed, or not like it....youre crazy. Every song is ridiculously catchy and the lyrics are sick. The entire CD is profesionally done and there's absolutely no way to get tired of it. If you dont have it yet....BUY BUY BUY.

I totally get these songs stuck in my head. He's in my SLEEP playlist on my Ipod, I listen to him every night before I go to bed. Everyone told him he'd be a star, and I hope he goes even further. First saw Dan Mills at Tags, New York opening for Taylor Hicks. Was VERY pleasantly surprised. Immediately went online to find his cd. Every song on the cd is amazing. Vocals are beautiful, lyrics are catchy. Love the song Sad and Sorry Songs. His cd is now stuck in my car cd player and in my head. (Sshhhhh don't tell Taylor Hicks!)

I dare you to find something better and more versatile than this
when i tell everyone i know about how amazing dan mills is, i always get asked a question first. What genre is it?
Truth be told, the genre can only be classified as one thing: Dan Mills. He not only writes the best and most original songs in about a half century, but every song transcends the boundaries of genre and type, and settles into the realm of perfect music. One can easily find elements of rock, blues, jazz, hip hop, country, and folk within these tunes. Even for those who wouldn't listen to most of those genres (country and folk can be found nowhere in my itunes library), it all culminates into perfect harmony. Dan Mills is Musical Genius. Nuff Said.
