Album Notes
Jonathan Crane graduated from Bowling Green State University in August of 2004, where he received his master’s in composition. His teachers were Elainie Lillios, Burton Beerman, and Mikel Kuehn. While at Bowling Green Jonathan was vice president of the student chapter of SCI. Jon is involved in all styles of composition, which include improvisation, acoustic, and electroacoustic music. Many different types of music are influential to Mr. Crane, from Latin and Jazz to contemporary concert music by Ligeti, Cage, and Crumb. Jonathan started his compositional career with Scott Eggert while getting a bachelor’s degree in music education, which was earned at Lebanon Valley College in May of 2002. His newest composition Wood is a multi-media experience, which explores the intricacies of wood and how it is used by society. Mr. Crane’s works have been performed by the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Aaron Misenheimer, Hartt 20/20 ensemble, and the Lebanon Valley College Wind Ensemble. Jonathan is currently attending The Hartt School of Music for his doctorate in music composition and is studying with Robert Carl. Jon is also an active performer on the double bass, playing jazz and tango. He is currently a member of ASCAP, SCI, The International Society for Improvised Music, and the International Society of Bassists.

"What is Going on in My Mind" is all about the unheard sounds in your brain. All of the pieces try to get under the sounds of the real world. What does the world sound like when you have amnesia?

Mr. R

Jon Crane has an obvious passion for his craft, and it shows in his music. For example, "Amnesia" takes the listener on a journey into Jon's past through the use of various electronic musical processes. His talent is obvious, and he has a bright future ahead of him.
