Album Notes
The increase in alternative music on the nation's airwaves is well documented. The combined sounds of Rock, Reggae, Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop and Ska have exploded around the world. Internet radio stations and mainstream stations alike, have embraced this new form of composite music as the sound of a new generation.

Consequently, out of Santa Barbra, San Diego and around the U.S. a whole new musical market has emerged and COMMON SENSE is right in the thick of it... With their 1992 release of their new CD, entitled, "Common Sense Live at the Belly Up," the Common Sense Band is ready, once again, to take the big step to the international stage.

The Southern California group's infectious music bridges the gap between reggae, rock, pop, funk, hip-hop and soul --- reflecting the multiethnic diversity of the band, which include member's Nick Hernandez, Jai Vatuk, Larry Young, and Billy Sherman. Mirroring the band's diverse musical influences, Common Sense blends African, American, Chicano, French, East Indian, Cherokee, and Anglo Heritage all in one.

"I grew up with rock-n-roll ideals," admits Nick. "You have a responsibility to try to make the world a better place. Personally, I am really concerned about social issues and the environment ---especially the oceans. I'm still searching for answers. I'm still defining what my role is, but I believe we're all here for a purpose and there's a greater good that we can all aspire to."

Like reggae? Like rock? Really love reggae? Click on "Buy now".
Drew Hester on Save the Canyon drums, Chuck Morris (Arsenio Hall Show, Chaka Kahn Band), Cool Cold Larry Young who can make a bass guitar talk in 3 languages, Jai Vatuk (Bonedaddys), the Lady's Man Billy Sherman with guitar and keyboard skills that c'aint nobody touch, John Trombone Ervin (Rick James), Danny Lamelle, sax (Rick James), Harold Todd sax, flute, percussion, vocals(Lenny Kravitz Band). All these guys on one stage, are you kidding? They all sing too, amazing harmonies, something you gotta have if yer gonna back a guy like Nick Herrrrrrrnandez. The crew rides behind this incredible vocalist. Outta UCSB came this bro who can lay down reggae, rock n roll, R&B, soul and gospel. I've been listening to this dude sing since 1989 at Winston's in Ocean Beach (San Diego). Common Sense blew the doors off with this accomplishment. The CD is really good for satisfying the craving in-between concerts. See 'em live. If you don't know how to dance, come as you are, the crowd gives great lessons.

Common Sense Revisited
This is the second time I have been able to purchase this album. Once about 15 years ago at a show, and again in summer of 07 at the show in Lake Arrowhead. I enjoy this recording more every time I play it, and Sexual Healing is still rockin my world after all this time. Great version, great dance music, great that someone else cares about the world and does something about it. Thanks guys. Really.
