Album Notes
Coerced Into Battle formed in the city of Oakland, CA. Enemy Mine is their first full length release. 10 tracks of calculated hate and their raw take on life, love politics and good old fashioned hate. Critics agree that Enemy Mine combines elements from the Thrash, Death and Metalcore genre into a brutal set list. Coerced Into Battle is in the Metalcore genre and is for fans of Heaven Shall Burn, Caliban and Arch Enemy. They are an unsigned act that has produced this album with their on time, money and blood. None of the energy from the album is lost in their live shows.

"Destroy! This is pure Metal!"

"The guitars are flying and the drums keep pounding away. Awesome!"

Oakland bruisers Coerced Into Battle have the honour of being one of the first non-UK bands to sign to UK based Rising Records and, these death-metal boys have certainly set the bar high with their debut album for the label, Enemy Within, an album that is possibly one of the strongest pure metal albums the label has put out so far.

Avoiding the typical, textbook Bay Area sound, Coerced Into Battle mix up a whirlwind of thrash and death metal. Opener Erase The Mind is a controlled opener that sets the tone with its thumping concrete heavy riffs and, as the frontman bellows “destroy humanity…” at the three minute mark, you just know this album is going to descend into something devastating. And the band don’t disappoint as Constructing The Demon rattles along like a juggernaut, flattening everything in its way while the title track is three and a half minutes of delightfully relentless brutality. The Metallica-esque instrumental The Addictions Durge (Part 1), breaks up the so far unrelenting fury while The Addictions Durge (Part 2), sees the band chug and grind through two and a half more minutes of instrumental heaviness before the likes of The System Will Not Save us and As The Light Fades bring this monsterously heavy album crashing to an ear-bleeding, rib-cracking climax.

Coerced Into Battle are one of those bands who have bucked against all trends, avoided the clichés of their local sound and produced something that is well, just plain fucking heavy. This is one for the headbangers who like nothing better than to lose their mind to a soundtrack of blasting drums and bone-breaking riffs. Stunning.
