Further pushing the creative envelope of live recordings, Pub Records announces the release date of Sept 30th, 2006 for it’s most charismatic and celebrated artist: Chris “C-Money” Welter. C-Money who’s resume includes writing & playing full time with John Browns Body, 10ft Ganja Plant and most recently Slightly Stoopid is blending his many influences in Dub/Reggae, Jazz and Hip Hop to create one of the most distinctive albums in 2006. Recorded live at Matt Murphy’s Pub in Brookline MA, it features many of the heaviest players on the Boston music scene: Brian Thomas (Akashic Record), David Bailis (BQEZ, Boston Afrobeat), Timo Shanko (Fully Celebrated), Tommy Benedetti (John Brown's Body) and Nicky Glaspie (Beyonce) all contribute to what is a revealilng album. It sets the perfect backdrop for C-Money’s music message and will only enhance the listener’s journey through C-Money’s world.

Having seen C Money and DeLa Play with Slightly Stoopid, we've been excited to now have seen C Money and the Players twice in San Diego at Canes and Winstons! These guys rock LIVE and to have a live album is even better! MAKE MORE!!

Finagle a Bagel

Smoked Out
If you smoke herb and own a cd player then this should be in your collection. Dubbed out hip-hop w/ no annoying rappers. Evasion is the track.

Buy this.

worth it.
Definately worth buying.

raises the roof
Heard them rock the house at the Beachcomber in Wellfleet and had own the C/D. I played it at a party and probably sold a dozen for them

I'm only giving it 4 stars because it's not a studio recording. Still, C-money rocks the house

Great music, great horns!
this CD keeps a smile on your face. The horns make you feel triumphant. Nice mix and sound. Looking forward to the next one!

Fantastic performances marred by awful mastering
Chris Welter is hands down the most musical trumpeter I've ever heard. He is clearly schooled in jazz, early Jamaican ska/reggae, R&B. He is never tempted to play something flashy or showy that doesn't actual raise the level of musicality to "prove" his talent. This fact enables the album to be not just about C-Money and his trumpet, but about great grooves, absolute togetherness rhythmically, and the creation of a certain mood and atmosphere that happens to be very compatible with marijuana smoke. It's actually a good thing this wasn't recorded in the studio, as I'm not sure the band could have quite replicated the live atmosphere outside of Matt Murphy's Pub. And it's most definitely NOT the reason the audio quality suffers. I've heard other recordings made from the stereo X-Y pattern mic mounted on a ceiling beam at the Pub, and Jason more or less knows what he's doing. The so-called "mastering engineer" of this record deliberately squashed any dynamics to the point where the pumping and breathing of the compressors used is nearly always audible! There is simply no excuse for this misguided attempt to "max out the volume" in every frequency range. Sure, the CD is "loud" but it is so bloated and oversaturated as to be unlistenable on a high quality stereo. I hope better judgment prevails in the audio department on C-Money's next release.

Unexpected Quality and Scaling of the Heights
Incredible musicianship, brave concept and incredible execution. Just hearing the first track sends shivers down my spine! Later tracks such as Blazing Loe, (a John Brown's Body special) are a treat. The album closes with the amazing politico Chang the Viper philosophies on top!
This also features Beyonce's drummer! C-Money has pulled out all of the stops!
Love it, ten out of ten.

Fantastic!!! Superb mix of instruments and amazing talent!! I saw C Money rock t

One of the best albums I have heard in a long time.
Chris Welter is a master musician and an innovator. This album is well worth the money. I played it for my sister and my mom and both of them enjoyed it as much as I did and they have totally different musical tastes. I can't wait to see what C-Money and the Players comes out with next.
