ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A Day at Miller's Grove is a transatlantic collaboration between American violinist/composer Vicki Brown and Italian composer/pianist/oboist Christian Ravaglioli. Shortly after meeting at a recording session in Tucson, the two met up again in Italy where they recorded an afternoon's worth of material with no pre-designed structure, no score. The result, sonically and structurally, is reflective of their shared history steeped in the sensibilities of a classical background and improvisational/experimental research and work with other musicians, painters, dancers, writers and actors. The album unfurls a lush, crepuscular atmosphere of sounds sourced from Brown's plucked and bowed violin lines and voice interwoven with Ravaglioli's bespoke keyboard, synthesizer, duduk and oboe.
