ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
CHANTAL CHAMBERLAND NOMINATED -
FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR - CANADIAN SMOOTH JAZZ AWARDS

Elegance and sensuality mingle in the music of smoky-voiced chanteuse Chantal Chamberland. Smooth as a dry martini and equally intoxicating, Chamberland's third album DRIPING INDIGO cements her role as one of the best interpreters of classic songbook favorites. Two factors set Chamberland's music apart from the pack. First, the arrangements are slow and sexy relying on a small jazz ensemble for backing (piano, sax, bass, light rhythm). Secondly is her luscious voice, which caresses the listener with a breathy purr throughout the album. With a repertoire that features "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes," Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" and " How Deep Is Your Love," the album slowly seduces with its corner jazz club ambience and torch singer grace.

the best classic jazz album I've heard in a long time
What I hate in jazz: pompously overdone vocal gymnastics, and musicians who think "improvisation" means dazzling fingering at the expense of melody. What I love in jazz: smooth, smoky, sexy vocals, and a clean back-up sound with brushes on the drums. This album has everything I love in jazz. The band is fabulous, and Chantal's vocals are incredibly seductive. I'm getting the other two albums on my next payday.

Romantic! Sultry! Intoxicating! Speaks to your soul!
I first heard Chantal in Saugatuck, MI in 10/2008 while on a date with a new romance. WOW-what a way to start and continue a new romance! I immediately bought all 4 CDs and copied them to my computer and car hard drives for frequent listening. Chantal's music is indeed unique and addicting!

Chantal's vocals and instrumental backup set the atmosphere!
Smoky and alluring "Dripping Indigo"s Chantal Chamberlain's vocals evoke the atmosphere of a candlelit night full of mystery and possibility. When one listens to it during the day it provides a calm and soothing backdrop. A gem.

The sax emerges flawlessly from her elegant and sultry voice.
Chantal Chamberland’s new album is pure enchantment! Her interpretation of songs such as Someday, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes are distinctive and silky. Chantal’s graceful and expressive voice is brilliantly highlighted by her accompaniment. The saxophone blends beautifully with and emerges flawlessly from her elegant and sultry voice. The range and expression in her presentation of How Deep is Your Love transported me to past well-worn memories.
