Album Notes
Caroline McCaskey received her first saw for her thirteenth birthday. She picked it up in person from Charlie Blacklock himself, who gave Caroline her first and only formal musical saw lesson. She was shown how to hold the instrument and how to produce a pitch, and then was told “Now you know everything you need to know, so go home and practice.” She has since also received valuable advice from David Weiss and Morgan Cowin.

Caroline won the International Musical Saw Competition in 2007, and in 2009 returned to judge the contest. She and her saw were also on the revival of the game show “I’ve Got a Secret.”

Caroline now teaches musical saw workshops at Swallow Hill music school in Denver, CO. She has appeared as a soloist with numerous ensembles, most recently with the Colorado Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas.

An active teacher, Caroline maintains a private studio of over 20 violin and fiddle students in Littleton, CO. She is also the Program Director of City Strings, run by Augustana Arts, which brings violin, viola and cello lessons to over 100 underprivileged youth in the Denver metro area.

Caroline holds a B. Mus. in Music Composition from University of the Pacific, as well as the M.M. in viola performance and Certificate in Suzuki violin pedagogy from University of Denver.
