ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Bembesito will take you on a musical journey in Tambores de Kiskeya. This new album features folk-spiritual music from Haiti and the Dominican Rep. The album features music you will hear in Vodou ceremonies throughout the island. It also features other spiritual-folk genres that are unique to a region like, Sarandunga from Bani Dom Rep., or Congos of Villa Mella Dom Rep. We can also listen to various styles of funerary music traditions called palo de muerto (palo drums of the dead). Tambores de Kiskeya showcases the African influence inherited on both sides of the island, the music and traditions is what ultimately unites the two nations sharing one island.

Outstanding Journey
Dominican-American artist Bembesito wipes away the dangerous divide and joins together the roots music of both Haiti and the Dominican Republic, exploring both sides of the island that stands at the center of the history of the western hemisphere. It is music that incorporates that rich history and rhythms even older still, from Africa's shores. Vocals and percussion are perfect. A spiritual journey for any who understand Vodou, a cultural excursion for those who may not. Outstanding.
