Album Notes
This album represents the debut efforts of Murray Campbell and Roni Francois. The recording process started with ideas for the songs sketched out by Murray at his Central Avenue Studios in Perth. At the time Roni was based on the East Coast of Australia. Whenever Roni was in Perth on tour (Absent Friends and Wendy Matthews) he would stay on for an intensive week or so of recording. Then Murray would edit and arrange tracks before getting other players such as Russell Smith and Tony Borthwick into the studio to add layers with guitars, saxes and flute. The finished songs combine live players and programming. The 13 songs are a mix of instrumental and vocal tracks featuring Roni on vocals. There is a lot of detail in the arrangements and close listening is rewarded. The album has become a favourite with Beatworld fans. Atmospheric music which would make a great sound track for movies. The album was launched at the Fly By Night Club in Fremantle in 1998 in a series of memorable live shows supporting Jungle Funk (Vinx, Will Calhoun and Doug Wimbish).

Murray Campbell - drums, percussion, programming, loops, keyboards and vocals.
Roni Francois - vocals, bass, guitar and keyboards
Russell Smith - guitar, slide guitar
Tony Borthwick - saxes and flute
Keith Robinson - trumpet

Produced and arranged by Murray Campbell and Roni Francois.
Mastered by James Hewgill at JHM July 1998.

Gentle jazz-jungle fusion with a dash of electro-dub
A fairly expansive CD that explores blatant reggae beats, a gentle jazz-jungle fusion with a dash of electro-dub and the odd eighties synth riff.
A definite highlight is The Jungle, a track harking back to Grace Jones at her 80s coolest.
The subtle climax of Stingray, an ambient trip hop track was another favourite but the pick of the album has got to be As If, the opening track, laced with some truly lung-defying flute work.
Indeed, the instrumentation is fabulous...... a fine sign post of some truly special material to follow.
