Album Notes
'Heart Rock & Soul Fire' is the 5th Bacon Fat studio album. For a start it is the first album featuring Tommy McDuff on drums. With his heavy metal background it was obvious the new songs would be a little heavier than the material on the previous 'Band of Brothers' album (2016).
On the other hand the new album is what you might expect from Bacon Fat. The diversity in musical genres surrounding the band's solid blues rock sound are even more present than ever. Bacon Fat has always been and always will be compared to ZZ Top, which makes perfectly sense as W. Johnson (vocals/guitar) learned to play the instrument solely by playing along 70ies and 80ies ZZ Top records.
'Heart Rock & Soul Fire' covers a musical spectrum containing elements from heavy rock (Motörhead, Five Horse Johnson,...), stoner rock (Masters of Reality, Kyuss,...), psychedelic rock (Monster Magnet, Hawkwind, Gong,...) and reggae rock (Big Sugar). There's some blues and even 5 seconds of ska somewhere but in the end it sounds just like Bacon Fat!
So there's eleven new original tracks here carefully composed to make sure rock 'n roll stays alive. The only non-original on this album is a take on Big Sugar's 'Little Bit a all Right' which fits in perfectly with the other tracks.
Guitar and bass are tuned down to 432Hz because it sounds better according to W. Johnson.
So if you're tired of hearing the same flat stuff again and again and you're looking for a fresh wave of rock 'n roll gems you should definitely check out this album.

The band shot a video for 'Burning Desire' with well known director Pascal Baillien (Channel Zero, Like Mike & Dimitri Vegas).
It features the first collaboration of the best fire-acts available in Belgium. #hoopingwonderland #florpyrogen #captaincatastrophy
