Album Notes
Chicago-based singer-songwriter and fiddle player Anne Harris has been crafting and evolving her unique sound for over a decade, producing six indie studio records and playing countless performances in the US and abroad. Her collaborations, live and in-studio, span a large and diverse group of artists, including Anders Osborne, Living Colour, Amy Helm, Walter Trout, Vieux Farke Toure, Guy Davis and hippie legends Jefferson Starship.

Harris’ latest record, Roots, is a collection of acoustic, instrumental fiddle pieces paying homage to the influences in American Folk and Roots traditions that have been an integral force in shaping her sound.

“When I began to listen to Anne Harris’ solo record ‘Roots’, everything else stopped. This is breathtaking, soulful music that cuts across genres, performed by a true master.”
- Jesse Finklestein, Blues Radio International

“The virtuoso violinist reaches way back in time to weave a gorgeous tapestry of historical styles that are the very fabric of American music. Anne Harris is like the Betsy Ross of roots music.”
- Linda Cain, Chicago Blues Guide

“Anne is a creator who provides inspiration. Keep it coming!”
- Bruce Newman, "Bruce's Folksong Fiesta" on award winning WEVL Memphis 89.9FM

“I’ve been playing Anne Harris’ latest release ‘Roots’ on the air since it arrived. It’s wonderful.”
- Mary Katherine Aldin, Grammy-nominated liner note writer, folk music historian, radio host KPFK-FM
