Album Notes
I had a record deal not long ago and they wrote this fancy bio, where it sounded like I was king of the world, destined for greatness, and somehow different from all the rest. I'm not. The truth is, my story isn’t any different from your story. The names might not be the same, the events probably took place on off days, and the exact times don’t quite line up. You call your experience one thing, I call it another. But at the end of the day, just after you close your eyes but before you fall asleep, I’m pretty sure your world takes on the same color as mine. Your struggles and triumphs are unique because they come from your voice. But the stories belong to all of us, all part of the same conversation, just with different names.

I write songs about that conversation. But what I’m really trying to do is find a connection to you… to build a bridge across this great divide of everyday living and somehow draw a line between us. Sometimes it’s like that… there’s this clothesline strung between two buildings somewhere in south Chicago, with shirts and pants and socks waving in the wind that weaves its way off the lake and through the maze of concrete and steel. And at one end of the line is a window, and behind that glass there’s a world of holidays, proms, and first loves going on. At the other end of the line is another window, with its own world of broken hearts, missed opportunities, and loss going on, behind a different piece of glass. And in between those two windows there’s this line, which those worlds share everyday, where what’s most personal to them is hung out to dry. I guess I write about the line.

I live with my dog Stella in a small beach town north of San Diego. I surf and write and play music here, when I’m not out there somewhere doing the same.

And we’re not that different.

Great storytelling lyrics and melodies. We saw Alex perform at a house concert in San Diego. It was a great evening of song and conversation. I play the album(s) frequently. LOVE 'Older' and 'The Table' and 'Reno' especially.

Love this album!
I heard Alex play in Ridgefield, CT and thought he was great so I bought Mile High, as this one was sold out! I adore Mile High, but this one is even better. Thank you, Alex!

Heard Reno on aolradio and said I had to find this guy.Been listening to him daily since. The Album touches you in the way that you feel like you know this guy and want to get to know him better. Saw him live in Annapolis MD which was fabulous just him and his guitar! WOW, not many people can pull that off! So yes I am gushing about this dude and you will too. Buy and Enjoy!

Buy this and make yourself very happy. "No more Time to Waste" and "Reno" are more than worth the cost of admission alone - longing, lovely ballads that loop in your head for days. Great, great music for road trips, for coffee in the mornings, for get together's with friends. ENJOY!

Woodard has grace and style. He grabs the heart strings of memories past or new ones to come. He is a poet and a man with soul. I love this album as much as all the others. He continues to out do himself! Looking forward to more to come.

In February of '09 I took my husband and a bunch of friends and family to Athens, GA to hear a friend from High School, Shawn Mullins play. We had a great time at the show; we weren't surprised at all about Shawn's wonderful performance. What we were surprised at was the incredible and talented artist that opened up for him; Alex Woodard. We were all just memorized by his voice and were lost in the stories he sung about. I was personally able to relate to several of the songs he performed that night; he seems to have the ablity to write songs about real people doing real things. After the show was over, he came over and sat with us for a couple hours just talking. He's so down-to-earth! He let me pick his brain about everything. Of course I purchased his CD that same evening and have had it in my CD player ever since. Not only is he a very talented singer/songwriter, he's a really cool guy. My favorite songs are Reno and No More Time; Be sure to listen to all his songs; I'm sure you'll be able to find a least one favorite of your own. ENJOY!

give it a listen and fall in love.
Alex Woodard’s latest album beautifully blends Americana, country and rock to create a masterpiece full of catchy, heartfelt and memorable tunes. The lyrics on this album focus on the simple idea that is highlighted in the albums first song, “Older”: perhaps we’re not getting older, we’re just getting closer to our goals and who we want to be. Woodard takes themes of love, loss, losing old dreams and creating new ones, and constructs honest songs we can all connect with and relate to. My personal favorites on this album include “The Table,” “Hoops” and “Reno” which features Sara Watkins of Nickelcreek. This is one of my favorite albums of this year and one of Woodard’s best efforts.
