Album Notes
Abbi Walker is a 25 year old singer/songwriter/worship leader based out of San Antonio, Texas. Her heart for worship shines through her soulful artistry in her second album, “Hope of a Little Green”. With influences from an extensive worship background, growing up in the diversity of San Antonio, and a whole lot of soul, Abbi bravely exposes her heart and her relationship with her God in the melodies and lyrics of this project. It is truly, an invitation to know one young woman’s struggle to walk with, and to know Jesus Christ.

Hope of a Little Green by “The J Man”
“IN A PHRASE: Abbi Walker has all the trappings…voice, personality, and presence…of an artist that can make it in this crazy world of the industry. Right now, Abbi Walker is what most would describe as “indie”, and I agree with that to the point that her newest effort is independent of label boundaries. But when most use “indie” as a derogatory term toward the quality of a record, then in regards to Hope Of A Little Green, I would have to disagree. First, Walker’s latest has her in the driver’s seat as every track, save two, is written from her own perspective. She even wrote most of the music for the project, which ultimately shows her talent. Her voice is also what adds to the experience, as its a little pop, with some sultry soul in it. The album kicks off with the most soulful song on the record, Save Me. Walker’s presence on the piano is strong, although not as strong as her voice. Wade follows with her interpretation of the old spiritual. It puts the definition of art into practice as those guitar licks wrap around this lyric to make something old become new again. The title track, howbeit a very unique title, is one of the album’s best as it comes from a heart of repentance that just wants things to be better in the arms of Jesus. The album’s most fun song follows in Run as it describes a love that has been distant and has now come back to rekindle the flame. The rest of the record falls into the category of modern worship, at least in my mind, when you include cuts from writers like Jason Morant and Reuben Morgan. Offering, Lovely, and Sovereign Hand are easily the best tracks of the set as Walker penned each one, but even her covers of I Give You My Heart and Lovesong bring more to these cuts than we’ve heard in a long time. My final word… I love discovering artists in new ways. (I met Abbi on MySpace!) But looking past that, Abbi Walker is a fresh voice that I hope continues to grow in all areas of her artistry. And I also hope that I continue to musically hear from her heart for a long time to come. Until Next Time… The J Man”

“I have been in full time Christian work for 33 years. In all that time I have met only a handful of men and women who’s strong and creative gifting was overshadowed by a longing for Jesus, commitment to serve Him unreservedly and both a Godly and worldly wisdom that effectively enabled them to communicate God’s love to people they meet. I have known Abbi for six years and she is one of those handful. In addition to an exceptional voice and a poet’s heart, she has the ability to focus love and attention on an individual or an arena, whether speaking or leading worship. Abbi does not take lightly her gifts or her God. An opportunity to invite Abbi to communicate God’s redemptive love should never be missed.”

When I became a Christian in January, I searched endlessly for some Christian music I could really, really enjoy. Having been raised on soul and hip hop, my search was not easy - all the Christian music I listened to just sounded the same. Months ago, I came across Abbi Walker's myspace page and listened to her song "Wade" and was blown away by her beautiful voice and the soulful feeling. I finally found a Christian artist who I love! Buy this CD!

Brad at CD Baby

Expressively ambitious in both her musical craftsmanship and her spiritual devotion, this is an artist who has created an album that not only shuns all the common stereotypes associated with Christian music, but does so in a way that is remarkably honest, personal, and refreshingly unpretentious. Thematically, the lyrics unite through a common bond of faith over the course of the 11 songs offered here, but the musical styles are diverse, making this album tough to broadly classify. It's from these varied approaches that these songs derive their greatest strengths. Some tracks are slyly rooted in the blues, while others lean towards the smoothness of soul or the subtle, controlled twang of the poppier side of country. Her voice is up for the challenge of carrying the weight of these stylistic switches, and her lyrics follow suit just as appropriately. These are far from being songs of blind faith. She seems more interested in searching for the answers herself, and some of these tracks reflect both that quest and the revelations that may or may not clearly follow. It's an intelligent approach, and it's one that is sure to appeal to those who are looking to broaden their horizons when it comes to spiritual music.

Wonderful departure from the "labels"
I've been growing more and more tired of what the "labels" have to offer and found Abbi Walker a wonderful departure from label music.

I met Abbi when she was in a worship band that came to my college's retreat. I love her Voice. Several songs on this CD really speak to me especialy Sovreign Hand, and Who is This Friend.Abbi even autographed this cd,this music also helped my mom get saved!!! Very anointed music! We are blessed to take this in to our spirit and rejoice in hearing such heart felt worship with spirit and truth. There's music that makes you look and see the person singing it, and then there's music like Abbey's that gives all Glory to God and is so good you just have to play it over and over and over again. Thank you for sharing your awesome gift with us!
