Album Notes
Rockin for 25 years now and not even getting more quiet…!

Not taking care about actual trends, this south german Rockabilly trio from Fürth near Nuremberg’s playing in the „name of Rock & Roll“ since 1984.

Reason enough for the guys to celebrate their birthday with a big “Jubilee Concert” and a new CD, too, just to close the year 2009:

The day 19th of December will be the date of the big “Silver Wedding Jubilee Party” organized by the trio itself at the Kulturforum in Fürth, Germany. The gig will also be the release event for the new “jubilee”-CD called “Silver Wedding” at the same time.

In total the new album will be the 10th by the Hot Rod Gang (as well as the 3rd on Part Records), presenting 13 new red hot Rock & Roll recordings which include 5 originals and 8 cover versions (by artists such as Johnny Cash, Johnny Burnette, Frankie Laine and Tom Jones – just to mention a few), all in the best Hot Rod Gang tradition:

With a lot of power and fun the three “jurassic” rockers are playing a great mixture of different styles such as hard driving Rockabilly over dusty Blues up to classic Country.

Exactly like on their album releases also the live performances of the combo are featuring originals and lots of cover versions (from artists like Elvis Presley, Johnny Burnette, Johnny Cash, etc.).

Since it’s foundation the “Gang” has been playing in the classic Rockabilly line up with guitar, drums and double bass, proofing their standard as a very famous high class Rock & Roll live act all over the european continent thanks to more than 600 powerfull club and festival performances as support act and backing band for big artists like the STRAY CATS, DR. FEELGOOD, PAUL ANSELL (from “NO.9”) and CANNED HEAT (just to mention a few).

Although the musical style of the Hot Rod Gang’s very close to the american music culture of the 50’s they’re not just covering it: Thanks to their enthusiasm for experiments as well as creativity regarding new arrangements these great musicians are creating their very own unique style and sound.

Getting older but not even wiser this combo from „Frankonia“’s still getting hotter every day!

As hardcore fans we just hope that this „musical marriage“ will go on for many more years…..maybe till their „Golden Wedding Jubilee Party”! Part Records sure would be very happy and proud to present also a CD release for this reason in the future!

What more can we say than just….get you a copy of this hot Rock & Roll „Silver Wedding Album“ now….!!

It’s only Rock & Roll but we like it…!!

Fred "Virgil" Turgis -

Ignore the cover, this is great music!
A wise man called Bo Diddley once said: "you can't judge a book by looking at the cover", that's exactly what I thought when I listened to the latest output by this German rockabilly trio.
They celebrate their 25th birthday, so you can expect experience. The album is mostly good (very good I'd even say) but I find them more at ease on their own songs than on the covers. They either suffer from a lack of originality (Get Rhythm) or too much originality. I mean it's good to cover unusual tunes and many rockabilly bands have done that, but all songs are not good to cover (Sexbomb). Those said their take on Canned Heat's On the Road Again is perfect. And when you listen to the originals you're rewarded by a strong dose of neo-rockabilly.
Anyway, happy anniversary to the band and hope to hear you soon with more original material.
