ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
1865 is an observer and musician embedded in the natural world creating a
sound which is only a part of a lifelong experiment he began at the fresh age of 12. Originally from the middle of America, he now pays rent in a breeding
ground of unique souls. Calling San Francisco his resting spot and stomping ground, 1865 has already been the opening buzz for acts such as The Roots,
MR.LIF, 9th Wonder, The Pharcyde, Anticon , and even punk-reggae-rock
band Zebrahead. With heavy grassroots promotion, support from college radio, and heavy demo saturation at South By Southwest Music Conference in 2006, his first EP, “1865” (2005) was able to squeeze out 3,000 copies independently. While handling his own production, his recently released first studio album, “Dark Matter” (2007), " ...is an excellent debut for an artist who handled the duties of emceeing and production. This type of music barely exists anymore and has me eagerly waiting for what 1865 has to offer next." - Insomniac Magazine.
