McMay is musician Frank De Mey’s new stage name. The freshly recorded cd was named ‘A Matter Of Modesty’.
McMay on the one hand refers to Frank’s last name and on the other to his special bond with the month of May, but it is mainly meant as an ode to his ‘favourite Beatle’ Paul McCartney.
McMay also stands for a project in which Frank has recorded, in close collaboration with top producer Ronald Vanhuffel, his own songs that are mainly recently written. The arrangements exude their shared passion and adoration for ‘The Beatles’.
The recordings in the ICP Studios in Brussels and the mastering session in the Abbey Road Studios in London indicate the level of ambition and the sustained quality standard and put into perspective the ‘modest’ title of the album.
The Belgian top musicians who collaborated on this cd are available for live shows, out of their enthusiasm for the McMay story and the quality of the songs. Eric Melaerts, Vincent Pierins, Herre Cambré and Peter Bauwens are at the absolute peak of the population of Belgian session musicians.
Through a ‘genetic blend’, the vocal support of daughter Elisabeth-Laura adds an extra dimension to the cd.
Frank is professionally active as a headhunter and since 1997 he invests in the recording of the songs he writes on a regular basis, out of his explicit passion for music.
