Clay Rock

Music Biography

Music has long been used by God through His people to minister, motivate, and inspire the generations. A necessary addition to God’s music ministers is Clay Rock. He puts a unique spin on the music and culture of rap as we know it, by fusing it with rock accents and impressive fashion. On his new record, “Settle the Score”, Rock delivers right on time with rap-rock tunes that win the hearts of all ages. He communicates his story in the music through intimate and realistic lyrics that relates to theirs. Confident and anointed in performance, Clay puts on an exhilarating show. As a soldier should be, he comes ready to rock with leather and spikes representing the armor of God. The experience is complete with head-banging, foot-stomping, water-throwing, and Bible preaching.

Every person in this life has a calling. Whether they realize it or not, they are searching for it. Clay Rock found his calling in Christian rap music. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Clay found a love for music and performing at an early age. He says, “I remember dressing up in whatever I thought a singer should look like and singing my little heart out to my mom and family. I loved it.” In high school he was in couple plays and was voted “Best Impromptu Actor” of his class. Although it seemed that Clay was born to perform, he was sidetracked in an adolescent quest for acceptance that caused a lot of bad choices. In sampling observed habits, he developed an addiction to several different drugs. Rock states, “Every time I got high, I would feel emptiness in myself that I began to question. I wasn’t happy.” Clay was invited to church where he asked Jesus into his heart and was delivered from drugs. Shortly after his salvation, the Lord revealed to him his ability and love for music all over again to be used for sharing his story and the gospel of Christ.

Since the outset of Clay’s music ministry and career, he has enjoyed growing success with pastors, talent competitions, TV, and radio. With years in soul-winning ministry, he has grown a large network of pastors with a built trust to minister freely. Clay Rock’s first song crowned him winner of the first competition he entered. In 2000, he opened for Noggintoboggan at “Battle of the Bands”. At “Spirit of the King” in 2005, he played stages with Benjiman and Seventh Day Slumber. Also in that year he was a two-time artist competition winner in “America’s Christian Music Showcase”, receiving airplay on Effect radio. In 2006, Clay Rock released the record “Above the Average” which was played on KSDI Channel 33’s, “Flying Home with Ronnie Paul”. He also opened for Everyday Sunday in the “Day of Truth” tour in 2007. In 2008, Rock garnered more airplay for his new single, “Settle the Score” on Visalia’s 94.1FM. He was spotlighted on KMPH FOX 26 Ten O’ Clock News & Los Angeles Faith’s Video On Demand in 2009. He currently is co-host radio DJ on Visalia’s 94.1FM.

In this new record, “Strong”, Clay Rock trail-blazes a new path in Christian rap with a sonic, rap-rock sound. It is an exciting ride as he takes you on a spiritually inspiring journey to serve God with excellence in songs like “This Time”. Big rock style songs smash through in tracks “Strong” and “Walk”. The intimacy with God comes out in “Never Gonna Stop” in a worship type song. He points out, “The album is energetic, but I had to take it down a notch and just worship God for His goodness.” And of course, “Strong” has its fair amount of church bangers like “Sing Your Praise” and “In the Spirit”. This is an awesome album for any rap fans collection. It is best said in what Kevan Breitinger, writer from Suite101.com, had to say about Clay Rock’s music,
“Big beats, and big heart; check him out.”
